நாங்கள் நம்பாவைக்குச் சாற்றிநீராடினால்

வாழவுலகினில்பெய்திடாய் நாங்களும் -

வாசநறுங்குழலாய்ச்சியர், மத்தினால் -
ஓசைபடுத்த தயிரரவம்கேட்டிலையோ
நாயகப்பெண்பிள்ளாய்! நாராயணன்மூர்த்தி
கேசவனைப்பாடவும்நீ கேட்டேகிடத்தியோ

வல்லீர்கள் நீங்களே நானேதானாயிடுக
ஒல்லை நீபோதாயுனக்கென்னவேறுடையை
எல்லாரும்போந்தாரோ போந்தார்போந்தெண்ணிக்கொள்
வல்லானைக்கொன்றானை மாற்றாரைமாற்றழிக்க
வல்லானை, மாயனைப் பாடேலோரெம்பாவாய். ------(16)
*நாயகனாய்நின்ற நந்தகோபனுடைய -
கோயில்காப்பானே! கொடித்தோன்றும் தோரண -
வாயில்காப்பானே! மணிக்கதவம் தாள்திறவாய்
ஆயர் சிறுமியரோமுக்கு, அறைபறை-
மாயன்மணிவண்ணன் நென்னலேவாய்நேர்ந்தான்
து}யோமாய்வந்தோம் துயிலெழகப்பாடுவான்
வாயால்முன்னமுன்னம் மாற்றாதே அம்மா! நீ

அம்பரமே தண்ணீரே சோறேயறஞ்செய்யும்

நந்தகோபாலன் மருமகளே! நப்பின்னாய்!
கந்தம்கமழும் குழலீ! கடைதிறவாய்
வந்தெங்கும் கோழி அழைத்தனகாண், மாதவிப் -
பந்தல்மேல் பல்கால் குயிலனங்கள் கூவினகாண்
பந்தார்விரலியுன் மைத்துனன்பேர்பாடச்
செந்தாமரைக்கையால் சீரார்வளையொலிப்ப
வந்து திறவாய் மகிழ்ந்தேலோரெம்பாவாய். ------(18)
குத்துவிளக்கெறியக் கோட்டுக்கால் கட்டில்மேல்
மெத்தென்ற பஞ்சசயனத்தின்மேலேறிக்
கொத்தலர் பூங்குழல் நப்பின்னை கொங்கைமேல்
வைத்துக்கிடந்த மலர்மார்பா வாய்திறவாய்
மைத்தடங்கண்ணினாய்! நீயுன்மணாளனை
எத்தனைபோதும் துயிலெழவொட்டாய்காண்
எத்தனையேலும் பிரிவாற்றகில்லாயால்
தத்துவமன்று தகவேலோரெம்பாவாய். ---------(19)
முப்பத்துமூவர் அமரர்க்குமுன்சென்று
கப்பம் தவிர்க்கும் கலியே! துயிலெழாய்
செப்பமுடையாய்! திறலுடையாய்!, செற்றார்க்கு -
வெப்பம்கொடுக்கும் விமலா! துயிலெழாய்
செப்பென்னனெம்முலைச் செவ்வாய் சிறுமருங்குல்
நப்பின்னைநங்காய்! திருவே! துயிலெழாய்
உக்கமும் தட்டொளியும் தந்துன் மணாளனை
இப்போதேயெம்மை நீராட்டேலோரெம்பாவாய். ------(20)
ஏற்றகலங்கள் எதரிர்பொங்கி மீதளிப்ப
மாற்றாதே பால்சொரியும் வள்ளல்பெரும்பசுக்கள்
ஆற்றப்படைத்தான் மகனே! அறிவுறாய்
ஊற்றமுடையாய்! பெரியாய், உலகினில் -
தோற்றமாய்நின்ற சுடரே! துயிலெழாய்
மாற்றாருனக்கு வலிதொலைந்துன் வாசற்கண்
ஆற்றாதுவந்துன்னடிபணியுமாப்போலே
போற்றியாம் வந்தோம் புகழ்ந்தேலோரெம்பாவாய்.--(21)

செங்கண் சிறுச்சிறிதே எம்மேல்விழியாவோ
திங்களும் ஆதித்தியனும் எழுந்தாற்போல்
அங்கணிரண்டும்கொண்டெங்கள்மேல் நோக்குதியேல்

தரிக்கிலானாகித் தான் தீங்குநினைந்த
கருத்தைப் பிழைப்பித்துக் கஞசன் வயிற்றில்
நெருப்பென்ன நின்ற நெடுமாலே! உன்னை -
அருத்தித்து வந்தோம் பறைதருதியாகில்
திருத்தக்கசெல்வமும் சேவகமும் யாம்பாடி
வருத்தமும் தீர்ந்து மகிழ்ந்தேலோரெம்பாவாய். ------(25)
மேலையார் செய்வனகள் வேண்டுவன கேட்டியேல்
ஞாலத்தையெல்லாம் நடுங்கமுரல்வன
பாலன்னவண்ணத்துன் பாஞ்சசன்னியமே
போல்வன சங்கங்கள் போய்ப்பாடுடையனவே
சாலப்பெரும்பறையே பல்லாண்டிசைப்பாரே
கோலவிளக்கே கொடியேவிதானமே
ஆலினிலையாய் அருளேலோரெம்பாவாய். -----(26)
*கூடாரைவெல்லும் சீர்க் கோவிந்தா! உன்தன்னைப்-
பாடிபறைகொண்டு யாம்பெருசம்மானம்
நாடுபுழும் பரிசினால் நன்றாகச்
சூடகமே தோள்வளையே தோடே செவிப்பூவே
பாடகமேயென்றனைய பல்கலனும் யாமணிவோம்
ஆடையுடுப்போமதன்பின்னே பாற்சோறு -
மூட, நெய்பெய்து முழங்கைவழிவாரக்
கூடியிருந்து குளிர்ந்தேலோரெம்பாவாய். -----(27)
*கறவைகள் பின்சென்று கானம்சேர்ந்துண்போம்
அறிவொன்றுமில்லாத வாய்க்குலத்து, உன்றன்னைப்-

BlogBackupr: Automatically Backup your Blog Online
Blogbackupr is a web-based backup sevice for blogs. It takes less then a minute to setup and can automatically backup all blog articles and comments on a daily basis. It also comes with one-click restore functionality. The only problem, it requires your blog login details. And while this may not be a big issue for small personal blogs, for bigger blogs it defintiely is. Nonetheless we still tested it on one of our personal blogs and everything worked as advertised. The Five Best Things About Google Maps
 Google Maps is one of the coolest tools available from Google, and without a doubt it’s the best, most complete and most detailed world map on the internet. I love it and use it all the time. The satellite shots help with orientation in new territory, public transport stations are listed in my area, and when I have to give directions, Google Maps is the place to go. |
So here are the three best things about it …
1. Default Location
When you go to maps.google.com you will most likely see a map of North America. Being in Europe this is not very convenient for me, so I made my hometown my default location.
2. My Maps
With My Maps you can create your own maps, annotate a Google Map, add comments, placemarks, draw directions or just goof around, which I did as you can see below.
Needless to say you can save and share your maps, edit them anytime, collaborate on a map with others, make your maps public or keep them private.
With the Collaborate option you can invite individuals to edit your map, you can allow them to invite others as well, and you can even let anyone edit your map.

3. Browse Popular Maps
The popular maps are both useful and fun. The Distance Measurement Tool for example is incredibly easy to use and easily reveals how far a distance it is from one point to the other, Place Finder translates your location into latitude and longitude or vice versa, Amtrak has a map with passenger rail connections and stations, another map lists all Crop Circles sightings, with Clouds you can view satellite pictures of global cloud cover, and much, much more.
Once you return to your maps you can check or uncheck the maps you have added, change settings or edit them (if applicable), and of course delete them.
4. Get Directions
It doesn’t work everywhere, but for most places you’ll be able to get directions by car. Recently also walking directions went live. Simply right click the map and select “Directions from here” at your start point, followed by “Directions to here” at your destination. Then choose By car or Walking from the drop-down menu. For the route I chose for my example Walking was not available - smart thing.
The coolest thing is that for some routes you can even view images of your trip.
5. Google Mashups
Have a cool idea for a map? Create it, make your own website and become popular, just like these guys…sort of.
- At safe2pee.org you can find a bathroom in your area (US only).
- Antipodes Map will find what’s on the other side of the world. Interestingly Australia isn’t really down under you, but in the middle of the North Atlantic ocean.
- The HealthMap lists the current global state of infectious diseases.
- QClock instantly displays the local time worldwide.
- Use grüvr to find live music nearby.

The Google / Firefox Start page in the upper and my own favorite sites mix in the lower window. I love the look, but it has become a pain to keep it updated. Links have changed, my favorite sites have changed, some don’t exist anymore, and thus the time has come to try something new.
Fortunately, there are many services out there that will do much of the work for you, and in my quest to find the best replacement I tested a few and will share my experiences with you. Let me just say that any personalized start page requires a bit of work - constantly. That’s pretty obvious.
If you prefer an extremely simple, yet stylish start page, give AwesomeStart a try. It’s your favorite search engine and your very own selection of links at the bottom, infront of a pretty background. You can pick a theme from different galleries such as movies & tv, music, videogames and some miscelleanous themes. Great plus: no need to sign up! They recognize you as you by using cookies. So you better back up that cookie if you don’t want to lose your personal page.
In my search I found a few very techie sites, among them yourminis, which collects bookmarks on a desktop-like environment, complete with calendar and other widgets. Feel free to check it out. I found it too challenging to even try.
If you are into widgets and different little windows in which you can search, view RSS Feeds, videos or pictures and your notes, but want it to be easy to maintain and without the desktop feel, there is MySurfPad, Pageflakes or iGoogle to try.
They are all pretty much the same, but Pageflakes left me with the best overall impression. Flakes are those little widgets that will bring news, tools (calculator, weather, Wikipedia, e-mail, address book), pagecasts (calendars, to-do-lists, bookmarks, clocks), entertainment (YouTube videos, Flickr photos, podcasts), and Fun (Sudoku, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace) straight to your start page. Open the menu and make a selection. If your page is becoming too full, create a new one and drag&drop flakes from one page to another.
You can import your bookmarks from Del.icio.us, Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.
There definitely is potential for addiction in Pageflakes. But frankly, even though all of the widgets are extremely cool, my bookmarks get a raw deal in this setup. They should be the focus, not the side dish.
So let’s have a look at Tabmarks. You start out with a selection of ten default tabs, i.e. categories for your bookmarks. That’s also the maximum number of tabs you can add to one tabmark.
Below each tab is a list of links belonging to that tab and this list can be personalized. Click on a link and it opens underneath the tabs. To make some space, you can hide the tabs. 
It’s not quite what I was looking for. Rather than a plain text link I would love to see a little preview image of my bookmark. However, I love the way links are opened and I realize that images would take up much more space, making this impossible. Also I can still open links in a new tab if I wish using the middle-mouse click in Firefox. So the way links are treated is a huge plus and Tabmarks will be my new browser start page. 
Finally, attentive MUO readers will recall that Linda has written a similar post back in February. In Aggregate your Favorite Websites on One Page she wrote about AllMyFaves and Symbaloo. I found AllMyFaves quite overwhelming. There are way too many icons and logos on one page to handle and it’s not yet customizable. Symbaloo on the other hand is pretty neat with an adorable style and allows for some customization.
10 ways to reduce your family's taxes
Typically, taxpayers tend to focus on ways of reducing only their own tax burden. This is a normal thing to do, but far greater tax savings are possible when the family as a whole is considered as a tax paying unit.
By combining the leeway offered by non-taxpaying members of a family, and judiciously sharing the family income and wealth among all its members, you will find additional ways of reducing your family's tax burden. Here is how:
You may like to explore the following possibilities of sharing of income and wealth within the members of your family in order to lower the overall tax liability.
- Create an HUF (Hindu Undivided Family) so that the family property and family income is assessed separately from that of the individual members of the family. Tax practitioners can help you in creating an HUF in a perfectly legal manner.
- Open as many assessment files as possible for the members of your family, including minor children.
- Keep separate accounts for all the gifts received on birthdays and social functions so that they can form the sources of future income through suitable investments.
- To avoid problems of the clubbing provisions, you may consider making a gift to your would-be spouse or your son's would-be-spouse. Such pre-marital gifts do not attract the clubbing provisions.
- If you are the karta of your HUF, you may make gifts within reasonable limits to the members of your family out of the HUF properties and build their separate assets.
- Since the income-clubbing provisions apply only so long as your children are minors, you may gift them some assets where the income will be received by them only after they attain 'major' status, e.g. 10-year cash certificates, zero-coupon bonds, etc.
- Some smart assessees do not gift anything to their spouses. Instead, they organise exchange of assets to avoid clubbing provisions, e.g. a husband exchanges his 1,000 Colgate equity shares with the jewellery owned by his wife (since Stridhan is the absolute property of the lady).
- Since the accretions to income arising on the transfer of asset does not attract the clubbing provisions you can gift any amount which can be invested by your wife or daughter-in-law in 9 per cent fixed deposit, etc. It is only the interest on such amount gifted that is included in the income of the individual. The interest on interest does not attract the clubbing provision.
- Since a genuine loan of any amount to your spouse or children does not attract the clubbing provisions, loan any amount (create evidence to avoid hassles in future) to children and spouse, which they may invest in income earning assets.
- You can use the Public Provident Fund scheme for building up capital of your minor children. If you have two children you can open two PPF accounts and deposit Rs 15,000 in each account every year. You will get tax deduction under 80C. Moreover, interest on PPF is totally exempt from income tax. Thus, when children become majors, you would have created capital for them while enjoying the tax benefits in the interim.
An example of family-wide tax planning
Let us now consider a comprehensive example of tax planning for a family of husband and wife with two children.
You can, of course, modify and improve it to suit to your specific income and tax needs. But it offers several key insights into the principles and strategies of tax planning.
Gupta's gross salary
A N Gupta is an executive working for a well-known company. His gross salary per month is Rs 30,000 made up as under:

Gupta lives in a flat owned by his wife and pays a monthly rental of Rs 8,000. Mrs Gupta pays Rs 12,000 towards municipal taxes.
Under the present rules, the entire house rent allowance received by Gupta is exempt from tax. Similar is the case with conveyance reimbursement, assuming that he spends the entire amount.
Gupta's take-home pay
Thus, his take-home-pay is as under:

Gupta's income from house property
Gupta purchased a flat in his own name by taking a loan of Rs 10 lakh (Rs 1 million) from his employer @ 6% p.a. repayable over 20 years. The annual installment is Rs 50,000 and the interest paid during 2008-2009 is Rs 60,000. Gupta gets a monthly rent of Rs 10,000 from this flat and pays Rs 20,000 towards municipal taxes.
Thus the income from house property of Gupta will be calculated as under:

Gupta's family expenses and investments
Gupta's family expenses are about Rs 18,000 p.m. on various household expenses. Gupta's wife has deposits in banks to the tune of Rs 162,500 earning 8% p.a.
There is a Public Provident Fund account opened by Gupta in his minor son's name. Gupta deposits varying amounts in the PPF account every year to minimize the tax liability. This year he invested Rs 21,000 in PPF account and contributed Rs 5,000 in Unit-linked insurance plan of the Unit Trust of India.
All the birthday gifts amounting to Rs 50,000 received by his son were pooled up by Gupta and invested in about 600 shares of Gamma Infotech Ltd @ Rs 83 in May 2000.
The company gave a bonus issue of 1:1 in 2001. Thus, the number of shares increased to 1,200. In May 2007, the son sold these shares @ Rs 251 per share. He is now 19 years old.

This example of the Gupta family shows how any family can prosper by careful planning of investments and tax.
Let us repeat once again: don't give importance to the specific numbers in this example. Try to understand the broad principles, modify and use them in your specific context.
